PURPOSE: Function, Identity, Agreement pt2
Let us start here…
Man was blessed, made in the image of God, instructed and informed to have dominion, fill and subdue the land, be fruitful and multiply and was sent out either as male or female (Gen 1:26-31)
But although this was the case, man was dead and unable to function. There was no one to till the ground that the Lord had given them dominion over, not until the breath of life was breathed into man and man became a living being.
5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Simply put, though the word had been released and prophesied over us concerning, function and identity, in order for that word to become flesh and manifest in our lives according to the will of the Father, we need the Spirit of God. The spirit that brings life and life abundantly, The one who bridges the gap between us and the Father, The one who empowers and enables us to do and become.
Without the Spirit of God, we are dead and incapable. Without the Sprit we are unable to till, tend, subdue and fill the earth. We are unable to be be fruitful and multiply, unable to have dominion and certainly unable to bear the image of God excellently. There is so much we cannot do Without God. We need Him!
Quick detour to Ezekiel 37: 1-14.
Now to some of you who may not know about this passage, Ezekiel 37 captures God bringing Ezekiel to a valley of dry bones in a dream-like vision. He is commanded to carry a prophecy and the bones connect into human figures, then become covered with flesh and skin and then became living beings.
4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. (continue to verse 14)
To become and walk in fulfilment, you need the word of God and the Spirit of God. One can’t be present without the other. Before God spoke a word and said “let there be light”, The spirit of God was present to carry out the fulfilment of that Word.
God commanded Ezekiel to prophecy to the dry bones. Before being commanded in verse 1, 'the hand of the Lord came upon’ him and he was ‘brought out in the spirit of the Lord’. The word of God was first released to the dry bones. From the release of that word, ‘bones came together’, ‘flesh came upon the bones’, 'skin covered the flesh’.
But though the bones started looking human again, they were still lifeless until ‘breath came into them and they lived, and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army’.
Not only did the dry bones come into human form, they received life from the breath of God and became an exceedingly great army.
First comes the word, then comes the spirit in action to make the word flesh in you. But to emphasise again, one cannot be present without the other. The spirit of God is God Himself. He is God in three persons. The I Am that I Am, multifaceted in nature and function.
But this is to simply say,
Though the Word of God, the plan, the promise, the will, has been spoken over you, you NEED the Spirit of God also. The Spirit of God is the one who enables and empowers, who gives life and transforms you from being a lifeless being to one full of life and authority, and the list continues. Creation indeed waits for the manifestation of the sons, but for the sons to manifest they NEED the Spirit of God to enable and empower them to walk in fulfilment and function, in partnership with the Word of God. Two cannot walk together less they agree (Amos 3:3-8). Agree with the Entirety of God; God the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. We need Him to become, to behold, to walk in purpose and function. We need Him to live.
Until next time,
